Music for Mondo Foundation

Music for Mondo Foundation is a very special evening event, where superb classical musicians come together to perform to support the work of Mondo Foundation.

Held in the intimate surroundings of St Michael's Chester Square, Central London this unique evening is restricted to just 80 guests. The evening will provide both supporters and new friends of Mondo the chance to celebrate the work which the charity has been pioneering in some of the poorest parts of the world including Nepal, Tanzania and NE India over the last 30 years (15 years as a Foundation).

Andreja Malir - Harpist

Andreja Malir, Graduate of the Royal Conservatory of the Netherlands is principal harpist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, one of the youngest ever appointed. She has enjoyed considerable success as solist, chamber musician not only in Ireland but in America, China and Europe.

Sian Coombs Mezzo-soprano

Sian Coombs has a thriving operatic, theatre and concert career. Future plans for 2019 include “Dritte dame ‘ in Die Zauberflote for Opera Integra and concerts in the Veneto and London. Sir John Tavener has set a poem ‘Pluies ‘ by Saint John Perse for Sian Coombs / choir and string quartet.

John Human Concert pianist

John Human is a classically trained Anglo-Indian concert pianist with a passion for exploring idioms and intonations of music from across the globe. He studied at Sussex University and the Guildhall School of Music and has performed in major venues including the Southbank Centre , Kings Place, The Albert Hall and National Theatre. He is a frequent visitor to India,and has developed a love for the country’s musical styles, and this influences the improvised compositions he will perform at this event.

Sirishkumar Manjion - Tabla

John will be joined on stage by Sirishkumar Manji

Sirishkumar is an Indian classical tabla maestro, who was introduced to the tabla at the age of seven by his late father and teacher Pandit: Bhagwanji Manji who in turn learnt from the great singer Pandit: Omkarnath Thakur. Sirishkumar has been performing ever since, working with a range of musical talents and performers, combining Indian classical flavours with modern, classical and world music traditions.He currently spends his time as a performer, producer, composer and teacher.

Dr George Zacharias Violin

A Lecturer in Music at the Royal Academy of Music, George maintains an international performance career receiving the highest accolades. His discography includes a Gold Star Recommendation (Strad) and a ‘Recording of the Month’ (Musicweb). He holds a PhD in Music (RAM), with his thesis on Nikos Skalkottas’ Violin Concerti. Future projects include their first critical editions and the premiere recording of his Concerto for Violin and Viola. He performs on the ‘Georgina Joshi’ Sanctus Seraphin violin (Venice 1719). He is the founder and leader of the Zacharias Quartet.

Marios Panteliadis Piano

Marios Panteliadis has performed as a piano soloist in many venues including Vienna Musikverein, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Sydney Opera House, Athens and Thessaloniki “Megaron” Concert Halls, as well as other solo and chamber recitals in Austria, Australia, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Romania, Spain, South Korea, UK and USA. He has received praise for his playing from audience, artists and critics and has won several 1st and special prizes in piano competitions in Greece (“George Thymis international piano competition” 2017), Italy (“Cafaro”, “Rome 2012” etc), France (“Epinal” 2013) and UK (Royal Academy of Music “Else Cross prize” 2014). Additionally, he was a finalist at Hans von Bülow International Competition in Germany - 2015 (“Conducting from the piano”) and he was selected by Making Music for the Young Concert Artists scheme (YCA- 2014) receiving a number of concert engagements in the UK. He has collaborated with Paralos Orchestra in Athens (cond. E. Kalkanis), Petersfield orchestra (cond. R. Browning) and Meiningen Court orchestra as a soloist and conductor. He frequently performs in a variety of chamber music groups including distinguished performers such as the violinists George Zacharias, Fabrizio Falasca and Francisco Coser and singers such as Simona Mihai.

The evening starts promptly at 7.30pm but welcome drinks are served with light Indian snacks and finger food from 7pm.

Tickets for this event are just £18.00 (+ £1.45 booking fee but includes a welcome drink)

Concession prices (OAPs, students and Ex-Volunteers) are £10.00
